We hope you're enjoying your Charcuterie Chalet kit! These tips will help you create a structurally-sound, beautiful, and delicious piece of Edible Architecture.
Note: Unlike gingerbread houses, charcuterie chalets should not be left out for long periods of time due to the perishable ingredients. If you don't plan to eat your chalet after building, place it in the refrigerator to be enjoyed later.

Your Cracker Insurance
Shipping can be rough on crackers. Like gingerbread houses, small cracks happen. But if your crackers arrive truly unusable, we’ve got you covered and will send you a replacement set.

Lightly Cracked? Try the Cheese Fix!
If your crackers are slightly cracked or just a small piece is missing, they’re usually fixable by using the cheese spread as glue. See the "Kintsugi" tip below!

I can't fill my piping bag with cheese without making a mess
A cup is your new best friend. Place your piping bag in cup, fold the edges over the sides, then carefully spoon the cheese inside. When it's full, fold up the edges and twist the top.

I cut my piping bag hole too big and now there's a cheese waterfall in my kitchen!
Well, first of all, we love the idea of a cheese waterfall. But, we see the problem. Just grab a plastic sandwich bag and try again!

How the heck do I hold the piping bag?
After you've twisted the top, hold the bag with your dominant hand. Use your thumb to gently push the cheese down through the tip.

I ran out of spreadable cheese!
In queso emergency, you can use many alternatives! Cheese Wiz and Cream Cheese are our top recommendations. But you can even experiment with peanut butter or vegan spreads.

Ugh! My house crackers broke
Embrace the Japanese art of Kintsugi and mindfully repair with patience and spreadable cheese. There's beauty in broken! However, if your crackers are broken beyond repair, contact us and we'll be happy to replace them.

My structure is looking a little sloppy
Do as the handy people do and run your finger along piped edges to create a clean, even line. This will also help your structure be more sturdy.

My cheese is too hard / My cheese is too soft
The cheese spread should be room temperature and creamy. If the cheese is too soft, put it in the refrigerator; if it’s too firm, massage it.

So, what should I build the Chalet on?
Choose a solid, mobile base to build your chalet. We suggest a cutting board or charcuterie board, or even a baking sheet.
