We hope you're enjoying your Mini Charcuterie Chalet kit! These tips will help you create a structurally-sound, beautiful, and delicious piece of Edible Architecture.
Note: Unlike gingerbread houses, charcuterie chalets should not be left out for long periods of time due to the perishable ingredients. If you don't plan to eat your chalet after building, place it in the refrigerator to be enjoyed later.
Shipping can be rough on crackers. Like gingerbread houses, small cracks happen. But if your crackers arrive truly unusable, we’ve got you covered and will send you a replacement set.
If your crackers are slightly cracked or just a small piece is missing, they’re usually fixable by using the cheese spread as glue. See the "Kintsugi" tip below!
If your crackers arrived truly unusable (totally broken or stuck together), just send a quick photo to hello@ediblearchitecture.com and we’ll send your replacement set right away, at no charge.
Don't forget to pipe cheese on to the bottom edge of each cracker so it attaches to your base and doesn't slide off.
If your crackers are slipping off the base, use as base that's flat and doesn't have any ridges, like a wooden charcuterie board.
And if your crackers are still slipping, you can also try putting an object, like a glass, inside the house and leaning the cracker on it as a "scaffold."
A cup is your new best friend. Place your piping bag in cup, fold the edges over the sides, then carefully spoon the cheese inside. When it's full, fold up the edges and twist the top.
Well, first of all, we love the idea of a cheese waterfall. But, we see the problem. Just grab a plastic sandwich bag and try again!
After you've twisted the top, hold the bag with your dominant hand. Use your thumb to gently push the cheese down through the tip.
In queso emergency, you can use many alternatives! Cheese Wiz and Cream Cheese are our top recommendations. But you can even experiment with peanut butter or vegan spreads.
Embrace the Japanese art of Kintsugi and mindfully repair with patience and spreadable cheese. There's beauty in broken! However, if your crackers are broken beyond repair, contact us and we'll be happy to replace them.
Do as the handy people do and run your finger along piped edges to create a clean, even line. This will also help your structure be more sturdy.
The cheese spread should be room temperature and creamy. If the cheese is too soft, put it in the refrigerator; if it’s too firm, massage it.
Choose a solid, mobile base to build your chalet. We suggest a cutting board or charcuterie board, or even a baking sheet.
Don't fret, Fido! You can download the instructions here.
Lay slices of salami along the roof panels, adhering each with a dot of cheese.
Pipe cheese to create windows or texture on the walls.
Attach the nuts, seeds, and berries using a dot of cheese to create festive holiday lights!
The secret to adding that holiday magic! Sprinkle grated parmesan all over your chalet for winter vibes.
You will have extra salami so get creative with it! Cut it in half for a doormat or shutters, or cut it into squares for savory bricks!
Use additional ingredients from home like rosemary, crackers, or slices of cheese for even more fun decor.
Spread holiday cheer (and delicious brie cheese) by gifting a kit to a loved one in your life.
